Residencies

The project’s founding objective is to continue the work of creating an environment conducive to the now indispensable generational change in the field of theatre and the performing arts. Therefore, supporting emerging artists, but also giving full dignity to new ways of thinking and doing theatre. Added to this is the desire to graft onto this path an artistic line that attempts to restore culture through different languages and experiences. The project aims to be a vehicle for a language that is as exhaustive as possible and suitable for all forms of fruition, opening a dialogue between the arts with the intuition of gathering artistic urgencies both on a local-regional level and on a national level, embracing several disciplines in a unified manner. A proposal, therefore, that contains all the many components that capture the spectator’s attention, offering an important opportunity for visibility to young companies that have never come to these latitudes but are ready to make their echo heard on the national scene. At the same time, it aims to continue the work of building a quality audience, its education, and the acquisition of critical tools, awareness and intellectual curiosity that Primavera dei Teatri, the proposing entity, has been carrying out for 25 years.

The main objective remains, however, that of creating opportunities for regional artists and practitioners to compare with what is happening on the national and international scenes, in a region cut off from the distribution network, especially in the contemporary sector, with the possibility for local companies not only to take a look at what is happening in the contemporary sector, but also to produce shows supported both economically and artistically, in order to activate collaborations that foster mutual knowledge and thus the circulation of works.
The selection action focused its attention on the new theatrical generation, on a theatre that adopts means and stylistic figures to speak about/to the contemporary. A choice that focuses on young Calabrian artistic realities and their ambitious projects that embrace tradition to reveal it in new perspectives.
